We love how enthusiastic our therapists are about promoting mental wellbeing. This week, Wellspring's Sophia England completed the Scottish 2019 10k and we are delighted to share that Sophia was able to raise £578 in support of mental health awareness.

Sophia has a passion for the promotion of mental wellbeing. She tells us:

“People with mental health difficulties are among the most socially excluded people in the UK, and social exclusion is associated with poorer physical and psychological health. They are also more likely to have a poor diet, smoke, drink alcohol or be overweight. Research undertaken by Staffordshire University, which involved parkrunners who identified as having experienced mental health difficulties, concluded that volunteering, being outside and participating in a community activity can be beneficial. Participants reported that parkrun gives them a sense of identity – being part of the ‘parkrun community’ and reducing the stigma associated with mental health difficulties.”

Sophia even managed to get a new personal best of 50 minutes and 29 seconds!

Well done Sophia!
